Comments:
The Style and I know for sure that I have looked up on Osvaldo Pugliese, his orchestra and style ever since I was an adolescent, when I used to listen to his music in my hometown, with my first professor, Hector Marziletti. Back then, it had never ocurred to me that some years later, life would give me as a gift the great joy of joining the orchestra of the great Master. A myriad of dreams, wishes, fears, responsibilities, absences, admiration, and above all, a sense of commitment accompanied me when I joined his orchestra. With Osvaldo, I got to understand the way he worked- I discovered and treasured the way he was rhytmically rich, expressively strong, as well as rich and full in sound, i.e., I was totally "immersed" in his orchestra. He taught me that "practice makes perfect", he entrusted me with orchestrations and he always encouraged me to keep on writing music. In an interview published by Humor magazine, Pugliese said: "There are talented people all right, in my orchestra there are some musicians that could perfectly have their own, and that would be very good, as is the case of Binelli or Alvarez (...)". When I read those lines, i felt really proud. I realized that as from then on, everything I would do musicwise would have his style, because I had been a witness to his work, his creativity, his rehearsals, and his authenticity for 12 years. That is the reason why Color Tango was born. It is meant to become a proof of that experience, to still be faithful to Pugliese's milonga way, to turn an orchestra into a team and each rehearsal into a workshop, to set the stage for an environment where musicians can express themselves, and share their creativity with the band and for the band, and finally, following his example, to work in a cooperative manner. Since Color Tango has been the same for the last 13 years, it has always been accurate, and rich and full in sound. At Color Tango, all musicians are highly committed to the orchestra and they all make their huge personal contributions, I hope you like this compact disc- it is the outcome of the story I have briefly described.
